Advocating for School Choice: INDLS Students Meet State Senator

Stories & Spotlights
INDLS Senator

Choosing the right environment for learning is essential for student success. At Indiana Digital Learning School, we know the importance of having options available to meet the needs of diverse students, which is why we come together as a community to advocate for policies that prioritize school choice and celebrate progress.

On April 7, INDLS school leaders and families attended an award ceremony, honoring State Sen. Aaron Freeman for his strong commitment to expanding educational opportunities, including his continued support for school choice and his dedication, leadership, and meaningful impact on Indiana’s education policy.

During the event, State Sen. Freeman received the 2026 Crystal Apple Award and spoke directly with INDLS families about their educational paths. Students enjoyed pizza while meeting new friends and school leaders, including Executive Director Dr. Elizabeth Sliger.

“Creating opportunities for families to share their unique experiences while recognizing the progress we’re making is especially powerful as we continue to advocate for school choice,” said Dr. Sliger. “The INDLS community is passionate about ensuring every child has access to an environment that meets their academic, social, and emotional needs.”
