Stories & Spotlights
David DelGrosso

Teaching success at INDLS; Teachers are committed to helping students succeed academically. Learn about Mr. DelGrosso and the INDLS Credit Recovery program.

At Indiana Digital Learning School (INDLS), teachers are more than educators—they are mentors, advocates, and unwavering supporters of student success. One standout example is David DelGrosso, a credit recovery teacher whose dedication has helped countless students turn their academic struggles into victories.

With a background in military training, DelGrosso brings a relentless commitment to student success that has shaped his approach to teaching. “In the military, I was a trainer, and failure was never an option—you had to learn to survive,” he explains. “That mindset carried into teaching. I don’t believe in just passing or failing. I believe in ensuring every student learns what they need to move forward.”

A Teacher Who Refuses to Give Up

Credit recovery students often face steep challenges. Many have fallen behind in coursework, struggled with traditional school settings, or encountered personal hardships that disrupted their education. DelGrosso is committed to teaching success by choosing to see these students not as lost causes but as young people who simply need the right kind of support.

“Our philosophy is that we might be these students’ last chance before they end up on the street,” he says. “I take that challenge seriously. We don’t just let students fail—we find a way to make them successful.”

For DelGrosso, that means going above and beyond the classroom. If a student consistently logs into class but doesn’t engage, he doesn’t just let them slip by—he calls, emails, and works with parents until something clicks.

“I call students every morning, I leave messages, I talk to their parents—because I can’t just have a student sitting in class and not working,” DelGrosso explains. “And then one day, something clicks. They start completing courses, and suddenly, graduation isn’t just possible—it’s happening.”

The Power of INDLS’s Supportive Teaching Success Team

While his dedication is undeniable, DelGrosso emphasizes that INDLS’s success is built on teamwork.

“The support here is incredible,” he says. “From my principal to the executive director, I know that if I see a student struggling and have an idea to help, I have the freedom to make it happen. It’s not just me—we have an entire team working to get students to graduation.”

This collaborative approach allows teachers to tailor their strategies to each student’s needs. Whether adjusting a course schedule, working closely with counselors, or providing consistent encouragement, DelGrosso and his colleagues ensure that no student is left behind.

A Lasting Impact

The results of DelGrosso’s dedication to teaching success speak for themselves. He’s seen students who once doubted their ability to succeed rediscover confidence and motivation—and that’s one of many examples of his impact.

Mr. DelGrosso’s impact on students and families at INDLS has been deeply felt and widely appreciated. Families have consistently shared how his kindness, encouragement, and dedication have made a real difference in their children’s lives.

One parent shared heartfelt gratitude for his constant support, saying, “Thank you so much for all your help… as for our family, this is so important he graduate.”

Another family, whose student had struggled since the pandemic, noted a dramatic transformation: “We don’t have to fight with him to do his work… the change in him is impressive! He likes you a lot and it warms my heart to see how he interacts with someone who genuinely wants him to succeed.”

Even families with initial hesitation, like one female-led household, shared how their daughter quickly connected with Mr. DelGrosso, describing how she’s “clicking” with him and how comfortable they now feel. These stories speak volumes about his ability to connect, motivate, and care for each student he works with.

At INDLS, teachers like David DelGrosso don’t just prepare students for tests—they prepare them for success. Through relentless encouragement, personalized support, or simply believing in their potential, he and his fellow educators are transforming lives, one student at a time.
